Rachel Weatherly

American University
Director, Digital Communication Strategy, University Marketing
A self-proclaimed math nerd who went to art school, Rachel didn't take the most direct route to her current role as Director of Digital Communications Strategy. She spent almost a decade at Gannett/USA TODAY during the tumultuous digital transformation of media. Her sense of adventure and obsession with learning new things led her from design and marketing to the rapidly evolving world of newspaper websites, audience analysis, and digital strategy. Rachel spent two years at the Atlantic Council reinventing the 50-year-old think tank's digital footprint. She then moved on to Sapient where she developed digital strategies for clients and started her research on behavior change strategies and using digital channels to influence behavior change. In addition several published articles on behavior change, Rachel also wrote her own bio and is incredibly uncomfortable speaking about herself in third person.
